Originally Aired: 02/09/18 – Review Black Lightning Epsiodes 1-4. We also speak with Andrew Jenkins of Lost Solace and with writer Kelly Thompson of Rogue & Gambit.
We talk with actor Andrew Jenkins. Andrew will be phoning in to tell us about Lost Solace (currently available iTunes). It’s a fast-paced psychological thriller that depicts the transformation of a young psychopath and con artist. He’s never felt empathy or guilt, however, a fateful encounter with a new drug is about to give him a dose of too much reality. Andrew Jenkins is an award-winning actor born in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He trained with William Esper at the Esper Studio in New York City and has appeared on stage, as well as in numerous film and television roles. In 2016 Andrew played the lead role of Spence in Lost Solace, a feature film he produced and co-wrote with award-winning Canadian director Chris Scheuerman. Andrew holds a degree from the University of British Columbia. He is also a writer and producer and currently has several more projects-in-development.
Our review of Black Lightning starring Cress Williams, China Anne McClain and Nafessa Williams. Synopsis: CW and Greg Berlanti expand the footprint of their DC Comics universe with this exploration of the intersection between family life and being a superhero. As a younger man, Jefferson Pierce donned the suit of a vigilante and protected the streets of his city, but he believed he’d left those days in the past. He learns that life doesn’t always work out as planned when his daughter, Jennifer — a star student who is determined to achieve justice at any cost — gets recruited by a street gang. In order to protect his family, Jefferson sees no choice but to once again become Black Lightning.
We also speak with writer Kelly Thompson. This is Kelly’s second appearance on the show. Last time we had her on to talk about her run on Hawkeye (a series that Andrew picked as the best comic of 2017). This time we’ll be talking to her about multiple comic books she’s writing, including Rogue and Gambit and Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. We also end up chatting more about Hawkeye as well as the book is just that damn good.
It was a great show!
