This column each week, is to help you picking some books that we think look and sound interesting. Both Andrew and I are going to make some selections that we hope you try out and enjoy. Now this will probably lead to some name calling or fist fights at some point but this is not about which company is better or my general dislike for all things Marvel. No, we want to suggest some titles you may not be reading today but you might like if you did.

By the way, there is no order to this list at all so deal with it.

New Books Released: 06/13/12

SPIDER-MEN #1 $3.99 (Marvel) I don’t know too much about this book, but what I’ve heard has intrigued me. Are 2 Spider-men better than one? Let’s find out. Also, this is a Bendis book and I’ve been liking his stuff lately. (Andrew)

MASSIVE #1 $3.50 (Dark Horse) The premise sounds interesting and I’m up for some new Brian Wood. I have not been the biggest fan of his work but I am willing to give it a try. (Mr. Green)

BATTLE SCARS TP $16.99 (Marvel) For those that missed it, the trade is now available for this much talked-about mini series. Nick Fury has a son and he looks a hell of a lot like a young Samuel L Jackson. Funny how that works out. Catch up on recent Marvel History. (Andrew)

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: SEASON 9 #10 $2.99 (Dark Horse) This season has far and away been 100x better then Season 8. For the first time I feel like I’m reading stories that I would have seen when it was on the air. Andrew hates the giant cockroaches but it all makes sense in the context of the story whether you like them or not. (Mr. Green)

COBRA #14 $3.99 (IDW) Things are really going to heat up as Flint and his undercover team start running operations out of their shiny new casino/base. And with Tomax on the team now, it’s bound to get crazy. (Andrew)

FRANKENSTEIN AGENT OF SHADE #10 (DC Comics) I was going to drop this book months ago but I was waiting for the arc to finish. But then the strangest thing happened. I realized I’m actually starting to like this book. Thank you Jeff Lemire for giving us another book to enjoy. (Mr. Green)

AVENGERS #27 $3.99 (Marvel) In this Avengers vs. X-men tie-in, it looks as though the Protector (or whatever he’s calling himself these days – Marvel Boy / Captain Marvel / Whatever) is about to kick some major ass. (Andrew)

SUPERBOY #10 $2.99 (DC Comics) For the second time on this list, I thought that this was going to be a book to chuck in the beginning. But like Frank, I have found that I am enjoying this quasi-new take on a very old character. Plus, I’ll admit it, I like his current costume. I know it won’t last but I hope it does. (Mr. Green)

CAPTAIN AMERICA #13 (Marvel) This book has been heating up. After the reveal of who Scourge is, I’m curious to see what’s going to happen next. Cap’s gonna be conflicted, that’s for sure. (Andrew)

MIND THE GAP #2 $2.99 (Image) Andrew really liked the first issue but I found it to wander a bit. I’m going to check it out again and give it another shot, mostly becasue I find the idea really fascinating. (Mr.Green)

So there you go. Check these books out and let us what you thought. Did we help you discover something new or did you really hate it? Either way at least you tried a new title out and experienced something new.

And if you’re gonna geek out, GEEK HARD!
