Here is a round up of all the shows that I watched this week. Some good some bad but there it is… that’s television for you. If you are lucky you are having a good time, if not well here’s hoping next week is better. I also want to mention that the verdicts are yes, for the specific episodes this week. The ratings of Watch It!, Record It! and Skip It! should be evident but if they are not here you go. Watch It! means the episode excelled in story, acting or direction for that episode. Record It! is when it was okay nothing special or exciting happened overall the episode was meh. And of course Skip It! is as straight forward as it can be.

Regardless, here my thoughts on this past week of television.

Week of (10/21/12-10/27/12)

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Once Upon A Time :: ABC, Sundays @ 8pm

Episode (204) The Crocodile – We get a little more backstory on the mysterious Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin. We learn more about what happened prior to him becoming the Dark One and his wife. We also learn a little more about Regina’s mothers scheme and who is helping her with her plans. Another quality episode that gives enough answers but asking new questions to make us want more each time.

Verdict: Watch it!

The Walking Dead :: AMC, Sundays @ 9pm

Episode (302) Sick – Well after a pretty stellar opening we have another good show. Last week Rick & crew find inmates that are still alive and Hershel loses a leg. Here we pick up right after that moment and now tensions are running high between the two groups. Rick makes some hard choices here as he becomes hardened to the world around him. No love for Laurie here again. Next week looks to continue the tension with the story switching to the Governor. Can’t wait for it.

Verdict: Watch it!

Alphas :: SyFy, Mondays @ 9pm

Episode (213) God’s Eye – As we build towards the showdown between Rosen and Parrish things don’t look good for the rest of the team. Trust is dwindling due to what Rosen did and who helped while others struggle to find both Rosen and Parrish to stop the end of humanity. I really liked many of the scenes here as Rosen is guided by  Danni to find Parrish to kill him. but as the moment comes there are complications. Gary for some reason is not affected by the device which leads to an interesting last moment to end on. It’s along wait for Alphas to return.

Verdict: Watch it!

Revolution (NEW) :: NBC, Mondays @ 9pm

Not on this past week.

Verdict: N/A

Supernatural :: CW, Wednesdays @ 9pm

Episode (804) Bitten – I really like when the creators try something different on shows that have established formulas. Here the boys are small background characters as we see 3 collage friends deal with a werewolf problem. Most of the episode is done as POV for a film project by one of the roomates. This leads to some interesting moments that only work in this method. While not a fan personally of the style I really enjoyed the story that any shortcomings were nullified for me.

Verdict: Watch it!

Last Resort (NEW) :: ABC, Thursdays @ 8pm

Episode (105) Skeleton Crew – The US decides that a negotiation session is needed to try and wrap up the issue with the crew of the Colorado. While this is happening on the island the sub and small crew are trying to fix a down sonar sensor and runs into some unwanted friends. This show continues to build on it’s mythology each week and is staying pretty consistent throughout. This continues to surprise and impress me. However for the good in the episode I can’t go beyond a record it this week.

Verdict: Record it!

Person of Interest :: CBS, Thursdays @ 9pm

Episode (204) Triggerman – John & Finch are set on a path to protect a woman and the man who she loves from his former boss an Irish mobster. Of course there is the usual redirects and surprises that this show lives on but that’s it this week. We do however get a cameo by Elias for the first time this season. Good to know that he is not completely out of the picture.

Verdict: Record it!

Elementary (NEW) :: CBS, Thursdays @ 10pm

Episode (104) The Rat Race – The first episode to change up the current episode formula. Watson is looking for Holmes because he has not checked on schedule and she believes he has fallen off the wagon. He of course didn’t but as we learn is kidnapped and about to be murdered. It must be Tuesday. Furthering the relationship that is building between the two leads we also get more of the romantic subtext between them. The plot was interesting and fun to watch Holmes sort it out. However the episode suffered from some preaching regarding the recent bank crisis’s over the last several years.

Verdict: Record it!

Fringe :: FOX, Fridays @ 9pm

Episode (504) The Bullet That Saved The World – Peter runs into some trouble with an Observer and we finally see Broyles back as a character. But as the team looks for another part of the weapon to defeat the Observers one doesn’t make back out. When a show is in it’s final countdown to the end all bets are off and it is apparent here in this episode. It’s nice to watch and still be surprised when things happened that you didn’t expect. I really enjoyed watching as Widmark is baffled by why Peter would risk his life for a simple silver necklace. When something so simple baffles him how can we expect him to understand something like love? Another fun episode from Team Abbrams.

Verdict: Watch it!

Grimm :: NBC, Fridays @ 9pm

Episode (209) La Llorona – Hank & Nick hunt for a child murdering ghost while Munroe deals with the local kids on his favourite day of the year Halloween. The ghost story was okay but it was Munroe once again stealing the show with only a small amount of screen time this week. Silas Weir Mitchell is awesome every week.

Verdict: Watch it!

Haven :: SyFy, Fridays @ 9pm

Episode (306) Real Estate – Just like last season Haven decides to have a Halloween themed episode. A haunted house played by Iain Glen of Game of Thrones fame. Yes he plays a house. Trust me it makes sense when you watch it. While there new facts about the overall story revealed here it is about the Halloway House. The episode is fairly paint by numbers and doesn’t give much in the way of the fun and interest that last seasons Halloween episode did.

Verdict: Record it!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars :: Cartoon Network, Saturdays @ 9:30am

Episode (505) Tipping Points – The civil war on Onderon comes to a close this week. Steela pays the ultimate price for her Rebellion and the others, Kenobi in particular seems to have learned a lesson that will help the future Rebellion be successful. Episodes like this are always a bit difficult to keep up the steam they writers have built up to this point and as such usually fall a little short of expectations.

Verdict: Record it!
