When one thinks of Fan Expo Canada, one thinks of fun, fans, celebrities, comic creators, and food…….wait a second, what? Nobody thinks of Food. However, that may change this year as some local vendors will be providing specialty food items in honor of two fanboy favourites.
Are you one with the Force? Are you for the light or the dark side? Are you an imperial or a rebel? If you’re not dressed up this weekend, it may be hard for fellow convention goers to know. Thankfully Hank Daddy’s BBQ has come up with a solution. Ever heard the saying, “You Are What You Eat”? Well, this statement is true as you can show your Star Wars Status by ordering either the Imperial Burger or the Rebel Burger, each exclusive to Hank’s for all 4 days at Fan Expo. The Imperial Burger is inspired by the double-bladed lightsaber wielding bad-ass that is Darth Maul. Featuring a bright red burger bun and topped with hot peppers, lettuce, cheese, tomato, and Hank’s own Four Pepper Mustard Sauce, this burger is guaranteed to bring some spice to the dark side of your Force. The Rebel Burger may lead to infinite wisdom as it is made in tribute to everyone’s favourite tiny Jedi, Yoda. Naturally, this bun is green (well, I guess not naturally because buns aren’t usually green) and has toppings which include cheddar cheese curds and granny smith apple slices. Tasty it must be!
But Hank Daddy’s isn’t the only one getting in on the action. Cashew and Clive are also bringing some sweet treats that’ll make you crave brains and rebellion. I know that eating brains is usually exclusive to the undead but you can get in on the action with Clive’s Cinna-Brain, A deadly concoction of bun and raspberry that will quell you hunger. Walking Dead Fans may be walking sticky after this one. But not to be outdone on the Star Wars front, Cashew and Clive is also offering two specialty buns good enough for a sith or a princess. That’s right, there’s a Darth Vader Bun and a Princess Leia Bun. If they didn’t have a Leia bun, it would be a travesty as I know seeing that famous hair do has always made me crave the equally famous dessert. And what’s so special about the Darth Vader Bun? Well, it’s got “Darth Dark” crumbs sprinkled on it. Funny, Dark Darth crumbs taste a lot like Oreo crumbs but whatever, it’s all in good fun and exclusively at Fan Expo Canada!
So if you’re at Fan Expo from August 22nd to 25th and you’re feeling a little hungry but you don’t want to stop geeking out, try one of these snacks on for size. Both Hank Daddy’s BBQ and Cashew and Clive are located in the Fan Expo Food Court in section 808 on the 800 level of the South Building. Cashew and Clive is also available on the 700 level of the South Building at the 700 Cafe spot. Eat and Geek Responsibly.
If you’re gonna geek out, GEEK HARD!
