This week, we kick MEGA-May into high gear! Join Andrew and Mr. Green this Friday for a jam-packed hour of awesome as we talk with two great guests and give our review of a film that Mr. Green has been waiting all year to see.
First up, Andrew and Mr. Green welcome back a guest to the program that knows his crime and his writing. Author Max Allan Collins returns to talk about his latest release, The King of the Weeds. This is another book in the Mike Hammer series and one of the unfinished Mickey Spillane manuscripts that Max has completed. Mike Hammer is a classic character from the hard boiled era of American fiction and we’ll be talking with Max about this famous detective to dissect what makes him tick. For more on Max, check the bio below:
Max Allan Collins (born March 3, 1948) is an American mystery writer. He has written novels, screenplays, comic books, comic strips, trading cards, short stories, movie novelizations and historical fiction. He wrote the graphic novel Road to Perdition (which was developed into a film in 2002), created the comic book private eye Ms. Tree, and took over writing the Dick Tracy comic strip from creator Chester Gould and one of the Batman comic books for a time. He wrote books to expand on the Dark Angel TV series. He has also written books and comics based on the TV series franchise CSI. More recently, he has written a book, Buried Deep, based on the TV series Bones.
He has also written two sequel novels to Road to Perdition: Road to Purgatory and Road to Paradise. He also wrote three more graphic novels starring the characters from Road to Perdition. These graphic novels, called collectively On the Road to Perdition, form the basis of the film.
To find out more on King of the Weeds, be sure to check out the Max’s website and listen to the show this Friday.
This week, you get two guests for the price of one as we’ll also be joined by Mr. Green’s rival, Ajay Fry of Innerspace. Ajay has escaped Green’s wrath for far too long and so this phone interview should put an end to it all, we hope. Ajay will also be on to share his thoughts on “Convention Do’s and Dont’s” as well as regale us all with stories of his most interesting con experiences. For those of you that don’t know Ajay (Mr. Green envies you), here’s a quick bio on one of the hosts of Innerspace:
As the Host of InnerSPACE, AJAY FRY is no stranger to SPACE or the airwaves. Born in Toronto, Ajay attributes his bizarre and creative sense of humour to growing up in Ottawa. His career in television began at an early age with roles on LASSIE, ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK and BIG WOLF ON CAMPUS. He also regularly lent his young voice to cartoons such as ARTHUR, LITTLE LULU and CAILLOU. In 2003 Ajay came to Toronto to study comedy and improv. He completed the conservatory program at The Second City and the Humber College Comedy program where he became a nominee for the prestigious Phil Hartman Award. In fall 2009, Ajay joined forces with Teddy Wilson to co-host SPACE’s flagship daily genre entertainment show, InnerSPACE.
When not hosting INNERSPACE, Ajay is demolishing fellow gamers in online computer games like Left 4 Dead 2, StarCraft 2 and TeamFortress 2, designing websites or kicking around the local Toronto comedy scene.
Will Ajay survive this Friday’s show? Be sure to listen to find out.
Finally, Geek Hard treks out to the movies once again to watch mass destruction on the big screen. Godzilla makes his triumphant return to the cinema and this time, he’s bringing a bunch of fellow mosters and a talented cast who’ve got the chops to steal the show. But can you really steal the show from the biggest, baddest one there is? Mr. Green can’t hardly wait to sink his teeth into this one. Will this movie turn out to be just as bad as the 1998 offering that even P. Diddy couldn’t save? It’s highly unlikely, but listen to the show this Friday to be sure.
All this, plus the news and reviews that you’ve come to expect, right here on Geek Hard. Listen LIVE! This Friday at 7pm Eastern on the station that can destroy all mosters, www.realityradio101.com. Be sure to listen because it’s gonna be a bloodbath!
If you’re gonna geek out, GEEK HARD!
