This week, the Geeks go to WAR!
Don’t miss this Friday’s show as Andrew and Mr. Green take a look at a new crowd-funding campaign that combines Geek Culture, Travel and Stand up Comedy! The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth is a Documentary that will focus on a nerdy stand up comedy tour going across Canada in search of geeky people and places worth checking out. It’s a Concert Movie that’s also a Geek Travel Guide. Joining the boys in studio to talk about the doc and the kickstarter campaign that’s associated with it will be the star of the film and long time friend of Geek Hard, comedian Gavin Stephens. Gavin will give some insight on the project, tell us about the many perks that the kickstarter has to offer and give us a preview of what we might see in the film. We’ll also be joined by Mayce Galoni, another stand up comic who will be performing with Gavin at a free comedy show held at the Silver Snail Comic Shop (329 Yonge Street, Toronto) this Saturday to celebrate the launch of the project. Nerdy Comedy will be blasting into your ears throughout all of this week’s show. Here’s some quick bios on Gavin and Mayce.
Gavin Stephens is a Toronto-based Comedian and Writer, who has been described as “Stan Lee meets Bill Hicks” by The Grid Magazine, Gavin’s use of references and irreverent “Tarontino-like” ability to deconstruct pop-culture is a breath of fresh air. Yet his crowd work and improv are so inventively personal, you can’t help but connect mixing dark, silly and subversive material with edgy crowd work and stream of consciousness improv. Gavin has filmed multiple one-man specials for CTV and Comedy Network, and recently performed with Reggie Watts at #JFL42.
Mayce Galoni is a stand-up comedian based in Hamilton, Ontario. He has participated in the Brantford Comedy Festival, has opened for Neil Hamburger, Colin Mochrie, Gilbert Gottfried and Doug Stanhope, and has appeared at a variety of comedy clubs in Los Angeles, Tucson, and New York City. He has also made appearances on TVCOGECO’s “Big Time Comedy” and Cable 14’s “Comedy at the Casbah”, as well as being the co-host of the Hamilton Comedy Hour with Jordan Scherer on 93.3 CFMU.
But the Geeks aren’t the only folks trying to take over the earth. In the new movie, Edge of Tomorrow, Tom Cruise is trying to stop invading aliens from messing Earth’s shit up. The downside is, he’s stuck in a time loop, starting the day over again every time he dies. Will this be a bad-ass Groundhog Day? Or will we feel like we’re stuck in a moment that we can’t get out of? Find out this Friday as Andrew and Mr. Green give us their two cents.
All this, plus the news and reviews that come to expect, right here on Geek Hard. Listen LIVE! This Friday at 7pm Eastern on www.realityradio101.com. Funny, Informative and Nerdy. What more can you ask for? No really, I’m asking you, “What more can you ask for?”
If you’re gonna geek out, GEEK HARD!
