Sci-Fi, comedy and a whole lotta talkin’. Just another typical Friday night, right?
This week on the program, Andrew and Mr. Green take things into the science fiction realm once again but this time, they won’t be alone! Joining the boys in studio will be indie filmmaker James Cooper, a former guest who’s just released his latest short film, Interview with a Time Travler, to the online masses. He’ll be on to talk about the short as will actor Elias Toufexis, who’ll be joining us via phone. Expect the gang to get their sci-fi on big time in this one. Here’s some quick bios on Elias and James.
Elias has held recurring roles on SyFy’s Bitten, Syfy’s Ascension, ABC’s, Zero Hour, SYFY’s Alphas, CTV’s The Listener, ABC’s Rookie Blue, and appeared on CBS’s Flashpoint, Showcase’s Lost Girl, Smallville, Supernatural, and the list can go on and on.
Not only has Elias performance captured and voiced characters in countless games including, Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell series, Assassin’s Creed series, Shawn White Skateboard and I Am Alive, but Elias was the lead role of Adam Jensen in Eidos’ production, Deus:Ex: Human Revolution, a game which has sold over 3 million copies earning millions and gave Elias the honor of being nominated for an ACTRA Award and winning Best Character in a Video Game at the 2012 Canadian Video Game Awards. (Elias even hosted the 2013 edition of the award show broadcast nation wide)
Passionate about storytelling from a young age, James established himself as a filmmaker to watch after successfully crowd funding two short films. The first, Elijah the Prophet, starring Art Hindle (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) & Melanie Nicholls-King (The Wire), raised over $20,000 on Kickstarter. The film was named one of the Top 100 International Short Films of 2013 by YoungCuts, was picked up for distribution by Drama Club Films, and broadcast on CBC.The second film, Interview With a Time Traveler, raised 163% of its Kickstarter goal, and stars Eric Johnson (The Knick, Rookie Blue) & Elias Toufexis (Bitten, Smallville).
James has written several comic stories, including multiple entries for Ty Templeton’s Holmes Inc. series, a short story for the Viper Comics anthology Cryptophobia, and a short story in the Image Comics series Hoax Hunters. He also authored the ebook Kickstarter for Filmmakers, drawing on his experiences funding Elijah the Prophet. The book went on to become the #2 business book on iBooks Canada the week of its release, and was featured on sites like Indiewire, Film Courage, and Ted Hope’s Hope for Film blog.
