Welcome to the fourth and final instalment of the Geek Hard 2014 Holiday Gift Guide. This is where we help you find the perfect gift for the geeks in your life. We’ve got gifts ranging from the cheap to the really expensive. Last week, Mr. Green showed off some pretty expensive geek gifts. This week, we look at the opposite end of the spectrum with stocking stuffers priced under $50! Here’s 15 items that Santa would love to give the Geek in your life this Christmas Eve. Check em out!
Stocking Stuffers Under $50
50 Year Calendar Key Ring – $5.99
Wanna know if April the 21st will fall on a Monday 23 years from now but don’t feel like doing the Math? Find out easily with this handy key ring. All you gotta do is spin the month and year to the ones you’re looking for and Presto! Everything lines up.
Floppy Disk Coasters (Set of 4) – $7.49
Some of geeks love a tidy home. Those same geeks would really appreciate a set of coasters that speaks to their past. I know that if I were to find a set of disks that actually looked like these kicking around my place, the only use I’d have for them would be as coasters. Well, that’s what these replica disks are for.
Lego Mini Storage Boxes – $9.80
Everything is Awesome!….even storing stuff. With these boxes, you know it’s okay to stack ’em. It’s in their DNA.
No Thanks Card Game – $9.99
Here’s a game that’s great for the whole family because it teaches you how to get rid of stuff by dumping it on other players. The object of this card game is end up with the least amount of points. In order to do that, you need to get rid of your high cards. The catch is that’s the goal for everybody else as well. This will lead to hours of fun (and arguing) to fill up that dull Christmas afternoon while you wait for the turkey and ham and whatnot.
No Christmas is complete without a visit from the Peanuts gang. In this pocket-sized book, we’re treated to 15 vignettes featuring Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy and the rest originally published back in 1968. The book also includes an additional tale titled “The Christmas Story” where Linus and Lucy teach Snoopy the origins and meaning of the Holiday. It’s a quick read. It’s a fun read. It’s Good Ol’ Charlie Brown!
Sonic Highways by The Foo Fighters – $11.95
Did you guys see the Sonic Highways t.v. show on HBO? Pretty awesome right. I loved how Dave Grohl and company went to 8 different cities in America and made an album that celebrated the musical history of those places. If someone you know loved the show, they’ll probably dig finding the album in their stocking. And even if they didn’t see the show, the music is amazing!
Just 3 little words made this one the biggest movie star of the summer! “I am Groot”. Who wouldn’t want to hang out with this dude? But he’s a big guy so it’s hard to have him around all the time. So why not have this Pop vinyl figure from Funko instead.
2 Player Gaming Mug Set – $14.99
For those that have gaming on their minds all the time….even when enjoying a tasty beverage. With this two mug set, you can recreate the classic controller layout while sharing some hot cocoa with your player 2.
Pac Man Shot Glass Set – $14.99
Give this set of glasses commemorating video games’ biggest over eater to the over drinker in your family. They can chase one ghost after another.
To Be Takei – $17.98
Oh my! An actor, activist, pop culture icon, George Takei has a pretty interesting life. This documentary gives a look behind the curtain of what it’s like To Be Takei. Through interviews with both George, his Star Trek costars and the people in his life, learn about Takei’s journey from his time in a Japanese American internment camp to the role of Sulu to his rise as a beloved nerd favourite. One of the biggest names in Geekdom has his own movie and you should give it to fanboy or fangirl on your list.
Nerdtendo Gamebooze 8oz Flask – $19.99
Remember the over drinker in your family that I mentioned earlier? They might have a problem. But for everyone else, there’s nothing wrong giving them this gameboy inspired flask. And hey, they don’t have to put booze in it. You can easily fill it with pop, or water, or juice, or cold medication…..okay, that last one might further contribute to the problem. Buy at your own discretion.
Edible Chemstry Kit – $23.99
For parents that want to give their kid a chemistry set but are too afraid they might ingest something that will kill them. The worry’s gone with this kit where eating the experiments is the whole point.
The biggest movie of the summer! It’s now available on Blu-ray! You can throw it in someone’s stocking! I keep using exclamation points! That’s how big a deal this movie is! Watch Starlord, Rocket, Groot (hey, it’s that guy again!), Gamora and Drax in the comfort of your own home. Then watch it again, and again, and again. It’s not hard to get hooked on a feeling with this flick. It’s a no brainer.
Storymatic Game – $36.56
Want to tell a fun and exciting fictional story to your friends? Cool. Do you have any ideas? No? Okay, that’s where the Storymatic Game comes in. You draw two cards to tell you about the star of your story, they pull the copper cards to see what happens next. You’ll be spinnin’ yarns in no time!
This list would not be complete without one “Han Frozen in Carbonite” item. I know, I know, last year I put a Han Business Card holder on the list but this one is SOOOO much better. Be geeky and professional all in one shot. Fitting since Han shot first.
So there you have it. The Geek Hard 2014 Holiday Gift Guide is complete. We hope we’ve helped your shopping experience these past few weeks and that your holiday is a magical one. So snuggle up under the covers and let those visions of sugar plums dance the night away inside your head.
If you’re gonna geek out, GEEK HARD!
