froggy_winnersfroggy_winnersAs many of our loyal listeners and readers know, last Friday’s show was a big one for us. Not only was it our 5 YEAR Anniversary, it was also the return of an annual tradition on Geek Hard. That tradition being The Froggy Awards, recognizing excellence in the guests of our show from the past year. It’s a chance to give back to the many guests that have made our program the hallmark of quality in audio infotainment that it is. The Best of the Best are given our thanks and gratitude for being just plain awesome. In case you missed the broadcast and you haven’t had a chance to listen to the podcast version, here is a recap of all of our lucky winners!

Geek Hard Guest of the Year for 2014: Greg Bryk

Every year we pick one guest who stands out above the rest. Every year this becomes a more difficult task. With actors, filmmakers, comic creators and t.v./radio personalities making up the majority of interview subjects, we’ve been lucky to have a wealth of great guests over the past 365+ days. That being said, there was one interesting cat that came on our program in January of 2014 to talk about a new show that debuted on SPACE – Bitten. That man was Greg Bryk who plays Jeremy, the Pack Alpha on the now hit television series. He did a great job of shedding some light on his character as well as waxing philosophically about a number of subjects. The man was fantastic to talk with and we were once again blown away by our most recent conversation with him this past Friday. He really is the most interesting man in Sci-Fi/Horror.

The Golden Grant (Comic Creator of 2014): Chris Claremont

It’s not every day that you get to use the word “legend” when introducing a guest on Geek Hard. Last winter, we got the chance to chat with Chris Claremont, who will forever be remembered as one of the men that took a third string franchise like the X-Men and turned them into a powerhouse of the Marvel Universe. A writer who’s still producing great comic work to this day, Claremont has always kept the belief that the character comes first and guides the story where it needs to go. We spoke with Chris for over a half hour and were entertained with stories not just relating to his work but to his life as well. Thanks to Chris for being such an amazing guest. Thanks also to comic writer J. Torres for presenting the award on our show this past Friday and accepting on Chris’ behalf.

Best Video Interview of 2014: Trish Stratus & Amy Dumas

We got to talk to a lot of great people at various events and conventions in 2014: Ed Brubaker, Michael Rooker, The Cast of Bitten, Heather Langenkamp, Darwyn Cooke and more! All of these were great but could not compare to my chat with these two amazing women. WWE Hall of Famers who have fantastic comic timing. Watch the video to see what I mean.

So that wraps up this year’s Froggy Awards. We hope you listen to the show throughout this year and make your guesses on who will take home next year’s Froggys. Until then, keep doin’ what you do and lovin’ what you love!

And if you’re gonna geek out, GEEK HARD!

Thanks for a great 2015, Folks!
