Welcome to another edition of New Comics, where we give our suggestions on what books to pick up when perusing the comic shelves week to week. As always, I am  joined by Kris Johnson of Bizarre Comics Entertainment. Read on to find the best of what the comic shop has in store for you this week.

Here we go.

STK666339BILL & TED’S MOST TRIUMPHANT RETURN #1 $3.99 (Boom) – I love Bill & Ted. Fucking. Love. ‘Em. And why wouldn’t I? The entire future of our utopian society is built on their beliefs and the most excellent tune-age they create as Wyld Stallyns!  *finger guitar* This week San Dimas’s favourite sons embark on what will most definitely be a non-non-non-non-heinous new journey on the comic book page filled with metal, maidens, music, and maybe Mozart. This Wednesday, jump into that time-travelling phone booth in your mind and get ready to join Bill, Ted, Rufus, the hot princesses, Death, The Good Robot Usses, and Station for what will most assuredly be an excellent adventure! (Kris Johnson)

HOWARD THE DUCK #1 $3.99 (Marvel) – Do post credit scenes in movies have power? Apparently they do because here comes Howard the Duck in a brand new solo series from the crazy, twisted mind of Chip Zdarsky. Most know Chip for his art chores on the hit Image series Sex Criminals, but he’s also a rascally writer who’ll be taking this Duck Detective through the mysterious world that is Marvel’s New York and beyond! He’s just a duck in a man’s world. And in this world he’s going to show men that detective work is a duck’s business. He’ll probably also give some folks the business and get into some funny business. A lot business will be happening. It’s a fact. (Andrew)

THE SURFACE #1 $3.50 (Image) – Ales Kot takes us on a journey through the nature of existence. I don’t know much about this book other than it’s sci-fi, Kot is on fire, the artwork is beautiful, and it seems like it’s gonna twist people’s brains into knots. Worth a look, am I right? (Kris Johnson)

STK666305ALTERED STATES RED SONJA $3.99 (Dynamite) – I love me some “out-of-continuity” action! When I was a kid, I was a huge fan of Marvel’s What If series. Through the years both it and DC’s Elseworlds titles have always piqued my interest. You take a character’s history and you futz with it until you’ve got a cool new story that’s completely different from the ones before but still has the integrity of the original character. That’s what this new Altered States One Shot is all about! Watch as a young woman working at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is turned into the mythic Red Sonja in order to stop the resurrected Kulan Gath (evil sorcerer dude) who’s turned the city into a Hyborian wasteland. It’s the Spider-Man/Red Sonja team up but without the Spider-Man part. (Andrew)

THOR #6 $3.99 (Marvel) – Who is THOR? Finally, the answer to the months-long question will stand revealed… at the end of this storyline. Yep, it looks like we’re in for a mystery tale wrapped in Asgardian garb. And the man conducting the investigation? The Unworthy Odinson himself. Now as much as I love ol’ Goldilocks, Sherlock Holmes he ain’t. This should be interesting. Don’t embarrass yourself, big guy! Stick with what you’re good at: Being handsome and hitting stuff really fucking hard. (Kris Johnson)

SOUTHERN CROSS #1 $2.99 (Image) – It’s a mystery in Space! What could be more fun? Alex Braith is a woman heading up to the refinery moon to collect her dead sister’s remains. But that’s not all, she’s also going to find out how the heck her sister died and who the heck was responsible. Many question arise as her cabin mate is missing, there’s a creepy dude across the hall, and she can’t shake this definite feeling that she’s being watched. It could be the creepy dude that’s watching her. Creepy dudes always like to watch. It’s a fact. (Andrew)

STK665354MILES MORALES: ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #11 $3.99 (Marvel) – Miles Morales vs. Doctor Doom! Yes, while it’s true it’s not the super-awesome 616 Doom but rather the Ultimate-I-Had-Goat-Legs-That-Time-And-Maybe-Still-Do-Doc Doom, that’s still pretty cool, right? Bendis and Marquez continue to spin the web of the most consistently entertaining and heartfelt Spidey-book on the shelf, and what with this whole Secret Wars thing coming down the pipe, we may be fast approaching the end of the Ultimate Universe and Miles Morales himself. So, y’know, get it while it’s hot. (Kris Johnson)

OUTFOXED $10.00 (Toonhound) – Originally a digital comic, this brand new fable from cartoonist Dylan Meconis is the story of a girl that rescues a fox from danger. To repay this kindness, the fox reveals that he is a special animal that can grant wishes. The wishes made change both their lives forever. Well, we know she doesn’t wish for more wishes, ’cause that never works. It’s a fact. (Andrew)

BATMAN ARKHAM KNIGHT #1 $3.99 (DC Comics) – Normally I don’t buy video game tie-in comics. They’re usually terrible and make me very sad that they even exist. Thinking about how someone got paid to create a steaming pile of poorly thought out hot garbage because a publisher thought they really, really had to cash in on those 5 people that really liked that game where the guy had a gun and shot it a bunch upsets me on a level I’ve not yet made peace with. But this one’s different, see! These Arkham books always feature top-tier talent and a very cool version of the Bat-universe! Last time around, DC introduced the world to the superstar that is Carlos D’Anda. This time? They hand the writing reigns over to Pete Tomasi and his mighty hand shall guide us all as we enter the final chapter of the Arkham Universe. I for one am stoked. (Kris Johnson)

STK665347ANT-MAN #3 $3.99 (Marvel) – Here it is, that moment where I sing the praises of the new Ant-Man Series. I know this is only the 3rd issue but I’ve got a good feeling that this title will be counted among the best series of 2015 when this year comes to an end. “Why?” you may ask, and if you do, you probably haven’t read it yet. In this issue, Ant-Man Security Solutions is now up and running and things appear to be going good for Scott Lang (Finally!). So now’s about the perfect time to dump Task Master in his lap. You know that Task Master guy with his photographic reflexes, able to do anything he sees someone else do? But can he shrink? Well no, but that’s not going to stop him from being a pain in Scott’s back side. It’s a fact. (Andrew)

So there you go. Check these books out and let us know what you think. We’ll be back again next week with more choice cuts of comic goodness!

If you’re gonna geek out, GEEK HARD!
