So you’ve got your tickets for this week’s Fan Expo Canada and you’re ready for 4 days of glorious geekdom at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Great. Know what you’re gonna do when you get there? Well yeah, you’re gonna get some autographs from celebs, cruise artist alley looking for the next big thing and maybe even buy a bunch of stuff from the many vendors onsite. Then what? There’s a whole lot more convention for the taking if you plan ahead. There’s these cool things called panels where you sit and hear cool people talk about cool shit. There’s also events that take place after the con floor closes that keeps the geeky fun going. Know about any of those? Let us help you out with that.

We know you already have your tickets for either the Hogwarts Reunion with the recently added Ron Weasley or the Evening with the Doctor’s Companions (2 outta 3 ain’t bad), but there’s a whole lot more fun things to do and most are included with you’re entry into the con. Here’s a list a fun things to do at the show and beyond!

Well, now you can take in a 90 minute episode, improvised live before your eyes starring the crew of the U.S.S. Albatross with musical accompaniment by music director Jason Zinger. This is a fun show that is sure to keep the Trek fans (and even a few non-Trek fans) laughing.

NERD NOISE NIGHT – Horseshoe Tavern – FRIDAY & SATURDAY (Doors Open @ 9PM) – $10 PER NIGHT

If you caught our show couple of weeks back, you already know about the awesomeness that is Nerd Noise Night, two nights of geeky music happening at the Horseshoe Tavern on Queen Street. On the first night they got great bands and hip hop artists, including Kirby Krackle, Swamp Thing and our favourite, Wordburglar (that guy burgles words!). On the second night they bring out the big bots with the Cybertronic Spree, a band comprised of characters from Transformers: The Movie (the 1986 animated film to be precise). It’s gonna be a nerdtastic night for your ears!

There sure are A LOT of voice actors at this year’s show. Now imagine these crazy cats let loose on a big blockbuster movie like Back to the Future! That would be awesome, right? Well at this year’s Fan Expo, you’ll get to see just that – famous voice actors re-imagine Back to the Future at a live script reading where they will get to use any voices they want, including some of their famous characters from their repertoire. This is heavy.

CN_FanExpoSite_BannerCARTOON NETWORK PRESENTS: ADVENTURE TIME WITH JEREMY SHADA & TOM KENNY – Rm 102 – 1PM

Speaking of voice actors, it’s hard to find somebody bigger than Tom Kenny right now. The world knows him best as Sponge Bob, but he’s also the Ice King over on Adventure Time. Join him and Jeremy Shada (Finn) as they talk about the runaway success of this cartoon juggernaut. Should be some fun, adventure-y times!

NERDS OF THE ROUND TABLE – Imperial Pub – 8PM (Doors Open @ 7:30) – $7

Another great offsite night time event for when the convention floor closes. Are you a fan that really wants to catch a Kirby Krackle show at the con and can’t make it to Nerd Noise Night on Friday? Or maybe you’re a super fan and want to catch Kirby twice? Well never fear, there’s another show featuring the Seattle Nerd Rocker and it’s just down the street from The Silver Snail (Toronto’s best known comics retailer). This show not only features Kirby, but also those sons we never sired but feel responsible for, Nerds with Guitars….plus a bunch of other local nerd acts that are worth checking out. Let the nerd times roll!

So that’s the list. Hopefully we’ve filled up the final 10% of free time you had at Fan Expo Canada. You’re welcome. Be sure to go to ALL of these events….or at least a few. And if you see us at any of ’em, be sure to come up and say hi.

If you’re gonna geek out, GEEK HARD!
