Welcome to another edition of New Comics, where we give our suggestions on what books to pick up when perusing the comic shelves week to week. As always, I am joined by Kris Johnson of Bizarre Comics Entertainment. Read on to find the best of what the comic shop has in store for you this week.

Here we go.

STK699352SAGA #35 $2.99 (Image) – It’s SAGA. It’s still great. It still has BKV and Fiona Staples on board as the creative team, and it’s still the best sci-fi/fantasy book on the shelves. Continue reading or pick it up as a new regular pull. Either way, your life will be enriched, friends. (Kris Johnson)

CAPTAIN AMERICA SAM WILSON #7 $5.99 (Marvel) – Happy 75th, Cap! You don’t look a day over 97…..I mean right now. I’m sure your once youthful vigor is bound to return any day now (like in a few months when they launch the new series). This anniversary issue is jam packed with not only multiple Caps (Sam Wilson, Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes) but also a ton great creators: Greg Rucka, John Cassaday, Tim Sale….the list goes on. I can’t think of a better party to throw for the old captain than what’s awaits us in the latest issue of Cap Sam Wilson! (Andrew)

BACK TO THE FUTURE #6 $3.99 (IDW) – This series has been hit and miss since its launch, but when it hits, it knocks it out of the park, so I’m willing to give it another look. This issue sees the beginning of a brand new arc and Bob Gale, the original BTTF screenwriter, is back at the helm. What will Marty and Doc get up to this go-round? I dunno, probably something involving time travel, I guess. (Kris Johnson)

STK668246OPERATION NEMESIS GN $18.99 (Devils Due / 1First) – Based on the true story of the man that killed the former leader of Turkey on the streets of Berlin in 1921 and walked free. Why’d he walk free? Because the man killed was found to be behind the Armenian Genocide. (Andrew)

JUGHEAD #5 $3.99 (Archie) – Jughead goes head to head with that dastardly stick in the mud, Principal Stanger, with the fate of Pop’s Shoppe hanging in the balance! Juggy and the gang will fight to keep their favourite hangout from closing it’s doors, but not before Mr. Jones has some more of his patented crazy-ass daydreams. I think he has a head injury. (Kris Johnson)

POWER LINES #1 $3.50 (Image) – They say it’s always about LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! This is true in real estate but also in the case of a young man who’s just been granted powers. He comes from a crime infested ghetto on the poor side of town but his powers only work in an upscale white community where he sticks out like a sore thumb. Can he get past the prejudice of others in order to make a difference? I sure hope so. (Andrew)

STK698817X-MEN 92 #1 $3.99 (Marvel) – Yeeeeeeeah boyyyyeeeeee! Everybody’s got a soft spot for the 90s X-Men cartoon and this writer is no different! After the positive response to the Secret Wars mini-series, Marvel has decided to return the book to the shelves of your LCS as an ongoing series. Following the events of the aforementioned mini, Cassandra Nova’s young mutant round-ups have found shelter at the newly reopened Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters… Only problem is Omega Red is sniffing around and looking to cause trouble. Sure, we all know Wolverine will probably kick his carbonadium-infused ass back to Russia, but will it be before or after he strokes to an old picture of Jean a bunch? (Kris Johnson)

ONI PRESS STARTER PACK 2016 $5.99 (Oni) – Oni Press has been putting out great comic material for years and years and years. They’re pretty awesome. But for some reason, there are still folks out there who won’t give ’em a chance. What up with that? You really need to give this company a try and the Starter Pack is the best way to do it. Collecting the first issues of a number of Oni series, this book will set you straight on the small press publisher. With great books like The Life After by Joshua Hale Fialkov, Stumptown by Greg Rucka and Letter 44 by Charles Soule, there’s a cast of superstar creators giving you some of the best stuff they got. Pick this book up and become a believer! (Andrew)

TMNT DEVIATIONS (ONE SHOT) $4.99 (IDW) – The classic Turtles story ‘City Fall’ gets an Elseworlds-style retelling in this brand new one shot. What would have happened if the Heroes in Half-Shell had turned their back on Master Splinter’s mission to destroy the Foot and instead sided with The Shredder himself? We’ll find out between the covers of this ish, but my guess is a real bad time for The Big Apple and anyone with an interest in the martial arts and pizza pies. (Kris Johnson)

STK697994FAITH #3 (of 4) $3.99 (Valiant) When your ex-boyfriend’s back / and it’s more than you can take / focus on the aliens you track / and have a little faith in Faith. Okay, so John Hiatt has proven to be the toughest one to parody yet, but I’m not giving up. Faith is still bringing the classic hero story with a bit of that tongue-in-cheek humour we all love. Alien conspiracy, daring adventure, ex-boyfriend/teammates showing up and getting in the way. This book has it all. If you haven’t checked it out, you should as the series is almost up. Take my word for it and have a little faith in me(Andrew)
