Just when you thought our show couldn’t get any better, BAM, we get another great guest!

Joining Andrew and Mr. Green via phone this Friday will be bestselling author and comic writer, Marjorie Liu. Marjorie will be on to talk about her current Image comic series, Monstress. (Issue #5 just came out!) We’ll find out more about this title as well as her other adventures and endeavors in the four colour world of comics. Here’s a quick bio on Marjorie:

ML10_14-copyNew York Times bestselling and award-winning writer Marjorie Liu is best known for her fiction and comic books. She teaches comic book writing at MIT, and she leads a class on Popular Fiction at the Voices of Our Nation (VONA) workshop.

Ms. Liu is a highly celebrated comic book writer. Her extensive work with Marvel includes the bestselling Dark Wolverine series, NYX: No Way Home, X-23, and Black Widow: The Name of the Rose. She received national media attention for Astonishing X-Men, which featured the gay wedding of X-Man Northstar and was subsequently nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for outstanding media images of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Her newest work is MONSTRESS, an original, creator-owned comic book series with Japanese artist (and X-23 collaborator) Sana Takeda. Published by Image in Fall 2015, MONSTRESS is set in an alternate, matriarchal 1920’s Asia and follows a girl’s struggle to survive the trauma of war. With a cast of girls and monsters and set against a richly imagined aesthetic of art deco-inflected steam punk, MONSTRESS #1 debuted to critical praise. The Hollywood Reporter remarked that the longer than typical first issue was “world-building on a scale rare in mainstream comics.”

For more on Monstress, check out Marjorie’s website and be sure to listen to Geek Hard this Friday.

But as I said yesterday, THAT’S NOT ALL! We’ll also be giving our review of The Huntsman: Winter’s War. To top things off, we’ll be chatting/debating with artist and movie buff Terry Huddleston (of Geek Hard’s Terry Knows Movies) about films, television and MORE!

It’s all coming your way, along with the news and reviews that you’ve come to expect, right here on Geek Hard. Listen LIVE! This Friday (April 22nd) at 7pm Eastern on the station that’s seen it’s fair share of monsters, www.realityradio101.com.

If you’re gonna geek out, GEEK HARD!
