Welcome to another edition of New Comics, where we give our suggestions on what books to pick up when perusing the comic shelves week to week. As always, I am joined by Kris Johnson of Bizarre Comics Entertainment. Read on to find the best of what the comic shop has in store for you this week.

Here we go.

STL004321DARTH VADER #20 $4.99 (Marvel) – Marvel’s best Star Wars comic continues with the inaugural issue of a brand new story arc. Yes indeed, sirs and madams, END OF GAMES has begun. But just whose games will be ending? The Emperor’s? Vader’s? Some heretofore unseen gamester’s? Who knows? But there’ll be a Beetee and Triple Zero back-up story and that’s all I need, really. (Kris Johnson)

THE FIX #2 $3.99 (Image) – Didn’t I tell you the first issue of The Fix was gonna rock? Guess what? It totally did. Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber are the perfect crew to tell this comedic action tale about two crooked cops. The second issue sees Roy seek out the help of another detective while Mac heals up after an injury in the line of duty. My guess is both the injury and the help Roy’s seeking will be shady…..just the way we like it. If you’re looking for excitement and adventure served up with a sarcastic tone, check out The Fix. (Andrew)

ARCHIE #8 $3.99 (Archie) – Hiram Lodge is running for Mayor of Riverdale and our pal Arch is having none of it! Sure, his best girl Veronica may be Hiram’s daughter, but that doesn’t mean everyone’s favourite ginge has to like the man himself. Feel the animosity radiate off the page this Wednesday with the latest issue of this phenomenal reboot! (Kris Johnson)

STL003058SATELLITE FALLING #1 $3.99 (IDW) – Here comes a new sci-fi series from two guys name Steve! Writer Horton and Artist Thompson bring you the story of a lone human survivor from a corrupt earth who now calls a satellite colony full of aliens her home. So what does she do to make a living on that there satellite? Why she’s a bounty hunter, of course. But as all these stories usually go, something is about to happen that changes her world completely. NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME! Pick up the book and find out how she deals with the universe messin’ with her shit. (Andrew)

SOUTHERN BASTARDS #14 $3.50 (Image) – Roberta Tubb is back and that means trouble for ol’ Coach Euless Boss. Jason Aaron and Jason Latour’s tour-de-force of nastiness in the American South just keeps on rolling with quality installments. This one is sure to be a high-water mark as Craw County’s reckoning is at hand. Pick it up for a grimy good time. (Kris Johnson)

BLACK PANTHER #2 $3.99 (Marvel) – I think I know what you did over the weekend. You went and saw Captain America: Civil War where the one and only Black Panther was kicking ass and taking names. That’s what you did. And now you’re jonesin’ for more T’Challa. Well never fear as Marvel’s got a fix all ready for you. Issue #2 of this great new series is at the ready. Someone or something is attacking Wakanda from within and now the King has got to find the problem and deal with it himself. Don’t know about you but I’m a fan of “hands on” monarchs. (Andrew)

STL004789GRIZZLY SHARK #2 $3.99 (Image) – Grizzly Shark returns in Grizzly Shark #2! Twice the terror! Twice the teeth! Twice the Grizzly Sharking! (Kris Johnson)

EERIE #1 $17.99 (Canton Street Press) – A reprint of the FIRST EVER horror comic, complete with the original ads and editorial content. This is something that I think any horror comic fan would want to get their hands one. And since tracking down the original would be next to impossible, this is probably the only way you’re gonna have a copy of this book. So go get it, buddy! (Andrew)

GUARDIANS OF GALAXY #8 $3.99 (Marvel) – In this issue, Groot and Venom battle Skrulls, and when Groot and Venom battle Skrulls, I mean they really battle Skrulls. So when you’re looking for that good Skrull battling, you know you’re in good hands with Venom and Groot, because they really know how to battle Skrulls. Skrull battle! (Kris Johnson)

STL003518VIDEO TONFA GN $24.95 (Alternative) – Back in 2009, Tim Goodyear watched a lot of movies. In fact, he watched his whole VHS collection. And while he was doing that, he decided to keep a sketch book that he filled with drawings and reviews of the 300 movies he watched. Some were mainstream, some were indie, all are represented in this book, complete with sketches of each tape’s boxart. If you’re a videophile like myself, you can appreciate a celebration of films such as this. I just hope he didn’t forget to rewind all those cassettes. (Andrew)
