This week we talk about giant apes, comic conventions and laughing at uncomfortable subject matter.
Hang out with Andrew and Mr. Green this Friday as they examine some interesting films and have a few laughs. Joining them via phone will be filmmaker Ferne Pearlstein to talk about her documentary, The Last Laugh, which explores taboos in humour through the lens of the Holocaust. Featuring interviews with top comics Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Sarah Silverman, Gilbert Gottfried, Harry Shearer, Jeff Ross, Alan Zweibel, Judy Gold, Susie Essman and Larry Charles, along with Holocaust survivors and critical thinkers, this film looks at important subject matter while still being funny. Ferne will be on to tell us more about the movie, now playing in New York and opening in L.A. on March 17th (with a national rollout planned as well). Check out the trailer for The Last Laugh below:
To find out more about The Last Laugh, be sure to catch our interview with Ferne this Friday.
But that’s not the only guest joining us as we’ll also be chatting with a longtime friend of Geek Hard, Toronto ComiCon organizer James Armstrong who’ll be on to tell us all about this year’s convention, which takes place March 17th to 19th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Wondering if there’s going to be movie review? Wonder no longer as there will be one indeed, as we give our thoughts on Kong: Skull Island which hits theatres this week. (Like you hadn’t already figured that out, amirite? We only mention Kong in the title and there’s a freakin’ banner at the top of the page.) Find out if everybody’s favourite monkey is still the man this Friday.
All this, plus the news and reviews that you’ve come to expect, right here on Geek Hard. Listen LIVE! This Friday at 7PM Eastern on the station that always gets the last laugh, www.realityradio101.com.
If you’re gonna geek out, GEEK HARD!
