Welcome friends to Back Issue Bloodbath, a comics-centric podcast presented by Geek Hard. Join hosts Andrew Young and Sammy Younan as they get down and dirty in the four-colour world of comic books, focusing on classic stories, new issues, comic creators and hot button topics.
This week, we take a short trip back to 2014 to give our thoughts on The Valiant, a miniseries written by Jeff Lemire and Matt Kindt and drawn by Paolo Rivera. The focus of the story is a centuries old mission where the Eternal Warrior must protect the Geomancer (who has the power to give life and take humanity to new heights) from the Immortal Enemy, a being hellbent on bringing disorder and darkness to the world. The easiest way for the Enemy to do this is to kill off the Geomancer and set the Earth into another dark age. For 10,000 years, the Warrior and Enemy have battled and each time, the Geomancer has been killed. But this time, things will be different as The Valiant have come together to fight the good fight. But will it be enough?
This is the first Valiant series that both Andrew and Sammy have read. Since then, each have sought out more titles from the publisher, which says something about their first experience. Join the boys as they dissect this comic and talk about the many strengths it has going for it. It’s all waiting for you on an ALL NEW Back Issue Bloodbath.
