Welcome everyone to another episode of Don’t Make Me Watch That! – A podcast that celebrates movies and tears them down all in one sitting. Hosted by Andrew Young and Leslie Hudson, each episode presents the critique of a film from the long or recent past that one of us hates and the other one loves. Andrew and Leslie will do what they do best: fight and debate and make fun of one another. It’s all in good fun and for the love of FILM!
Andrew is not a fan of Disney animation. So of course Leslie would force him to watch The Lion King. Directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff and starring Matthew Broderick and Jerermy Irons, this 1994 cartoon feature is considered one of of the animation studio’s best. Released during Disney’s “Renaissance Period”, The Lion King is the story of lion cub and future king Simba, who searches for his identity. His eagerness to please others and penchant for testing his boundaries sometimes gets him into trouble. Plus there’s the fact that his uncle killed his father and all that.
This is a first for Don’t Make Me Watch That where the person who picked the film gets angrier than the person who was forced to watch it. The first half of the episode focuses on Andrew’s anger towards the film. The second half is more about Leslie’s anger towards Andrew when he reveals something about his viewing of the movie. Listen for the turn as it is equal parts frightening and hilarious!
Listen as our two combatants argue the merits of The Lion King and cut each other up in the process. Enjoy.
