This week, we talk frightful films and good mental health.

Don’t miss this Friday’s episode of Geek Hard when Mr. Green makes his triumphant return. Green’s medically cleared to return to active duty. Just in time for our Toronto After Dark Wrap Up. That’s right, we’ll be bringing you our review of the many features and shorts we got to see at Toronto After Dark 2017. This year’s festival brought a diverse range of movies to Toronto and we’ll tell you all about them this Friday.

One of the films that screened at After Dark was Beyond Skyline, written and directed by Liam O’Donnell. Liam will be on to chat about what fans can expect from this sequel to 2010’s Skyline. Here’s the trailer for the film.

For more info on Beyond Skyline, be sure to catch our interview with Liam O’Donnell this Friday.

Our second guest of the evening is Doctor Janina Scarlet. Author of Superhero Therapy and Harry Potter Therapy, Janina uses the concepts and tropes of superhero stories and incorporates them into evidence-based therapy. She’ll be on to talk about her books, new podcast and more! Here’s a quick bio on Janina:

Janina Scarlet, Ph.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, scientist, and full-time geek. A Ukrainian-born refugee, she survived Chernobyl radiation and persecution. After immigrating to the United States, Janina was heavily influenced by the X-Men. While completing her postdoctoral training at the Veterans Medical Research Center, where she treated active duty service members with PTSD, Dr. Scarlet noticed that many of her clients identified with superheroes. She later began incorporating superheroes and other fictional characters into Superhero Therapy.

For more info on Superhero Therapy, check out the website and don’t miss our interview with Janina Scarlet this Friday.
