Welcome friends to Back Issue Bloodbath, a comics-centric podcast presented by Geek Hard. Join hosts Andrew Young and Sammy Younan as they get down and dirty in the four-colour world of comic books, focusing on classic stories, new issues, comic creators and hot button topics.
This week on Back Issue Bloodbath, we bring you another creator spotlight. This artist is a longtime favourite of Sammy’s. Hell, he’s a longtime favourite of a lot of comic fans. I’m talking about the one and only Jim Lee! Jim has had a storied career that spans multiple publishers. He first made his mark at Marvel Comics, where he would become known as the quintessential X-Men artist of the early 90s. His work on X-Men #1 would get him into the Guinness Book of World Records for it’s record sales. Shortly after that, Jim would leave Marvel to start Image with a number of other superstar creators.
His Wildstorm studio would go on to produce many successful comics for the next few years and would eventually be bought up by DC. This brings him to the company that he works at today, first as a superstar artist and now as co-publisher. During this time, Jim provided artwork for the popular Batman story, Hush, as well as a number of other core DC books like Superman and Justice League.
Join us as Andrew and Sammy look at the career of Jim Lee and give their thoughts on his successes and memorable comic runs. All in a day’s work for Back Issue Bloodbath. Enjoy.
