Welcome friends to Back Issue Bloodbath, a comics-centric podcast presented by Geek Hard. Join hosts Andrew Young and Sammy Younan as they get down and dirty in the four-colour world of comic books, focusing on classic stories, new issues, comic creators and hot button topics.
This week, in our creator spotlight, we take a look at the comic contributions of Tim Sale! An amazing artist who’s known for some iconic stories, Tim’s body of work in the comics industry is small in quantity. But he makes up for that in quality, having worked on all the big characters in mainstream comics. From Batman to Superman to Spider-Man to Captain America, Sale’s work with writer Jeph Loeb is legendary. It’s also worth noting that a decade ago, his work broke into the mainstream in a big way as it was featured on the Heroes television series. It’s safe to say that Tim has made a lasting impact in comics over the past few decades.
Take a listen as Andrew and Sammy talk about the memorable artwork of Tim Sale. We also end up talking about colour which is ironic as Tim is colour blind. The irony continues as some of his most famous works have colours in their name – Daredevil: Yellow, Spider-Man: Blue, Hulk: Gray….etc. (I don’t think Sammy knew about Tim’s condition at the start of the episode ’cause he sure goes on about colour for awhile.) It’s all coming you way on the latest installment of your favourite comic book podcast, Back Issue Bloodbath! Enjoy.
