Originally Aired: 09/28/18 – Our review of Netflix’s Maniac. We also speak with Sam Maggs of Girl Squads and Tony Flame of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Show Notes:

We play an interview with Tony Flame Expert Game Designer at Treyarch. Mr. Green got a chance to speak with Tony at Fan Expo Canada earlier this month to discuss the upcoming October 12th launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Black Ops is back! Featuring gritty, grounded, fluid Multiplayer combat, the biggest Zombies offering ever with three full undead adventures at launch, and Blackout, where the universe of Black Ops comes to life in one massive battle royale experience featuring the largest map in Call of Duty history, signature Black Ops combat, characters, locations and weapons from the entire Black Ops series. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is being published by Activision and developed by Treyarch with additional development support from Raven Software and PC development with Beenox.

Our review of Netflix’s Maniac starring Jonah Hill, Emma Stone and Sonoya Mizuno. Annie Landsberg and Owen Milgrim are two strangers who are drawn to the late stages of a mysterious pharmaceutical trial. Each has a different reason for participating in the experiment — she is disaffected and aimless, fixated on broken relationships with her mother and sister, while he has struggled throughout his life with a disputed diagnosis of schizophrenia. The radical treatment, using pills that the inventor claims can repair anything about the mind, draws Annie, Owen and 10 other subjects into a three-day drug trial that they’re told will permanently solve all of their problems, with no complications or side effects. Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned.

We also speak with author and video game writer Sam Maggs. Sam returns to our show to talk about her new book, Girl Squads: 20 Female Friendships that Changed History, available October 2, 2018. This is Sam’s third book for Quirk Books and is the perfect follow up to her last one, Wonder Women. Just as that book celebrated amazing women throughout history, this one celebrates teams of women working together. Sam Maggs is a bestselling writer of books, comics, and video games. She’s a Senior Writer for Insomniac Games; the author of THE FANGIRL’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, WONDER WOMEN, and GIRL SQUADS (Oct. 2, 2018), all published by Quirk Books and distributed by Penguin Random House; a contributor to BioWare’s highly-anticipated game ANTHEM; and she’s written for comics like STAR TREK and JEM & THE HOLOGRAMS. A Canadian in Los Angeles, she misses Coffee Crisp and bagged milk.

It was a great show!
