Welcome to another edition of New Comics, where we give our suggestions on what books to pick up when perusing the comic shelves week to week. As always, I am joined by  Kris Johnson. (HE RETURNS!) Read on to find the best of what the comic shop has in store for you this week.

MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS #1 $4.99 (Marvel) – The legendary anthology returns this week with creators Charles Soule, Ann Nocenti, Greg Pak, Paulo Siqueira, Tomm Coker, and Art Adams! With a trifecta of terrific tales starring Wolverine, Captain America, and Namor the Sub-mariner, The House of Ideas looks to celebrate their 80th anniversary in style with much in the way of punchy-punchy. I loved Marvel Comics Presents back in the day. It was always chock full of fun stories, gave a ton of talented but unproven creators a shot, and provided a relatively low risk platform on which the House could field test some of their kookier pitches. I think it goes without saying that I look forward to plunking my money down this Wednesday for the latest iteration of the classic series. (Kris)

DEADLY CLASS #36 $3.99 (Image) – This series is back! Just in time for the launch of the TV Show! Funny how that works out, eh? Going back is a bit of a theme here as Marcus gets ready to go back to Kings Dominion to face off with Master Lin. But before that happens, he’s gotta go on a journey of a different kind. That’s right, he’s taking a shit ton of drugs and taking a spirit journey to get himself right. Makes perfect sense in this comic. Not so much in life, but definitely in this series. (Andrew)

BABYTEETH #14 $3.99 (Aftershock) – Last issue, Sadie and rest of the Ritter clan came to face to face with Clark’s dad, a.k.a. Satan himself! Strangely, ol Beelzebub’s physical appearance was more Adam Driver than Tim Curry in Legend. Come to think of it, aside from the initial murdery-ness, he doesn’t really seem like he’s all that bad, does he? Look, I don’t know what the hell is going on here. That’s why I’m recommending this book this week. So we can find out together. Like a family. A really, really weird family. (Kris)

BLACK WIDOW #1 $3.99 (Marvel) – Who’s more bad-ass than The Black Widow? How about a Widow written by The Soska Twins! The Soskas are known for directed some hardcore horror flicks like American Mary and See No Evil 2. Now they’re bringing their brand of bad-assery to the spy with the widow’s bite. Throw in artist Flaviano and you got one beautifully chaotic comic book. Enjoy. (Andrew)

DARK ARK #13 $3.99 (Aftershock) – Shrae and the dark ark have made landfall. It should be a joyous time for all on board after their many months at sea. Unfortunately, monsters being monsters and stuff, a fair number of Shrae’s charges have decided that now that the pressing danger has passed, its time to, y’know, murder Shrae and his entire family. As if that wasn’t enough, it seems that somehow, the parcel of land on which the survivors of the deluge find themselves is already inhabited by a hostile force. Can’t an evil, murderous, demon-worshiping sorcerer catch a break? No. The answer is no. (Kris)

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #13 $3.99 (Marvel) – For the past year, J. Jonah Jameson has been Spidey’s little buddy. Ever since he found out webhead’s true identity, he’s sided with him through and through. You’d think that would make Peter Parker’s life easier. Nope. Now he’s gotta save his life after the two walked into a deathtrap set for them last issue. Spiders are suppose to trap their prey. Not the other way around. With any luck, Parker will save the two of them in no time. We’re talking about Parker. Luck’s not a thing he can count on. Thankfully, us lucky fans will enjoy another issue from Nick Spencer’s great run! (Andrew)

WALK THROUGH HELL #7 $3.99 (Aftershock) – Detectives McGregor and Shaw have spent nearly this entire series exploring a cavernous, horror-filled warehouse that may or may not be some sort of portal to hell. At the same time, they’re trying to piece together just what they’re experiencing has to do with a dead child murderer named Carnahan. Their questions have been abundant but answers are non-existent. Now, confronted by what appears to be Carnahan himself, it looks like they may finally get somewhere on all fronts. But, y’know, do you really wanna hear whatever it is that a dead kid killer has to say? I’m gonna say no. I feel that’s a pretty safe bet. (Kris)

INVADERS #1 $4.99 (Marvel) – Chip Zdarsky has had a helluva great run at Marvel. Howard the Duck, Starlord, Spectacular Spider-Man. These are books Chip was born to write. Now he gets to play with some of the “not so funny” superheroes. Captain America, the original Human Torch, The Winter Bucky…..and Namor. And Namor’s a bad guy right now! Uh oh! Looks like this Invaders reunion is all about tracking down one of their own and bringing him to justice. Can’t wait to see what Chip and artist Carlos Magno do here. Chances are it will still be a little funny at some point. Either way, I’m all in on these 80 year old heroes! (Andrew)

CONAN THE BARBARIAN #2 $3.99 (Marvel) – The 1st issue of Jason Aaron and Mahmud Asrar’s new series starring the legendary Cimmerian was a helluva lot of fun! A couple bits of clunky dialogue aside, it was exactly what I’m looking for in a Conan comic. Epic battles, surly one liners, drunken dalliances with comely wenches, sorcery, witches, old gods. The book literally has everything! EVERYTHIIIIIING! This issue, the Death of Conan story continues. The brawny brawler is set to throw down with a giant ghost snake because this is Conan-the-goddamn-Barbarian, babay! This is what Conan the Barbarian does! And it is glorious! (Kris)

SUPERS TP VOL 01 $14.99 (Top Shelf) – This French import comic has won awards awards and people’s hearts. The story of three alien children abandoned on Earth, they must conceal their true identities in order to avoid being discovered. That means they can’t use their powers in public. Starting at a new school is bad enough, amirite? The artwork is amazing and the story will pull at your heartstrings. This is my official “Feel Good” pick of the week. Check it out if you want to feel good and whatnot. (Andrew)
