Welcome friends to Back Issue Bloodbath, a comics-centric podcast presented by Geek Hard. Join hosts Andrew Young and Sammy Younan as they get down and dirty in the four-colour world of comic books, focusing on classic stories, new issues, comic creators and hot button topics.
This week on Bloodbath, things get a bit scary as Andrew and Sammy take a look at a series currently published by The House of Ideas that dips into the horror realm. The book in question is Immortal Hulk. While Bruce Banner has always been the big green monster in the Marvel Universe, his comics have usually skewed more towards superhero tales rather than horror. Not so with this comic from Al Ewing, Joe Bennett and friends. Here’s the official synopsis:
HORROR HAS A NAME. You’d never notice the man. He doesn’t like to be noticed. He’s quiet. Calm. Never complains. If someone were to walk up and shoot him in the head… all he’d do is die. Until night falls. And someone else gets up again. The man’s name is Banner. The horror is THE IMMORTAL HULK.
This series was on a LOT of “Best of” lists at the end of 2018. It was also Sammy’s pick for the best comic of last year! Take a listen as he and Andrew dissect the first 12 issues of The Immortal Hulk, a book that’s been considered by many critics as the best comic that Marvel has put out in years. Will Andrew agree with their assessment? Find out on an ALL NEW episode of Back Issue Bloodbath.
