Welcome to another edition of New Comics, where we give our suggestions on what books to pick up when perusing the comic shelves week to week. As always, I am joined by  Kris Johnson. Read on to find the best of what the comic shop has in store for you this week.

SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #1 $4.99 (Marvel) – Conan The Barbarian has returned to Marvel with great success. While the Cimmerian’s flagship series has been excellent up until point, it is time for the reemergence of another legendary Conan title in this new age! It is time for the Savage Sword! And who better to wield it than the duo of Gerry Duggan and Ron Garney! Throw in some Alex Ross covers and a story of Conan adrift at sea in search of pirate treasure and you have a guaranteed purchase from me, my friends. Come. Join me this Wednesday for a tale of high adventure! (Kris)

HIT-GIRL SEASON TWO #1 $3.99 (Image) – Hit-Girl heads to Hollywood and nothing will be the same again! Turns out they’re making a movie about the little vigilante’s life and she’s not too happy about it. So she’s going to stop the movie from even happening! You might think this sounds like Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, but will a LOT more blood and killing! And you’d be right as it’s written by Kevin Smith! Snooch the Nooch! (Andrew)

WILLIAM GIBSON’S ALIEN 3 #4 $3.99 (Dark Horse) – The shit has officially hit the fan, man! Xenomorphs are loose on Anchorpoint station, and the prospects are looking grim for the base’s skeleton crew. What’s the fuck are they gonna do now, man?! What’re they gonna do? Well, Bishop is whole once more and Hicks is ready to finish the job he started on LV-426. So maybe just let those guys have some guns and hope for the best? That’d be my move. (Kris)

CAPTAIN MARVEL #2 $3.99 (Marvel) – Former FF villain Mahkizmo has taken over Roosevelt Island and made it all Mad-Maxy! (Yes, Mad-Maxy is word now. Go with it.) Captain Marvel is stuck on said island with one a small band of heroes to help her take Mahkizmo down. So who’s a part of this rag-tag team? Spider-Woman, Echo, Hazmat and a man known only as SOM. It’s like I always say, “If you want SOM, come get SOM!”…..I’ll see myself out. (Andrew)

DARK ARK #14 $3.99 (Aftershock) – Shrae’s arc has made landfall, signalling a new dawn for all of the monstrous horrors on board. Or rather, it should have. Unfortunately for the creatures of the night, someone or something is hunting them down one by one. But these monsters havve just spent a crap-load of time cooped up in a stinky old ark with stinky old devils, fiends, and other assorted terrors. They won’t wait around to go down like little bitches. Luckily, they have a surly manticore among their ranks who’s itching to eat some faces. Sounds like a fun weekend. (Kris)

TORSO TP NEW ED $24.99 (Jinxworld) – Another great thing about the Jinxworld imprint at DC is we’re getting new editions of some classic Brian Michael Bendis fare! This one is from 1999 and it’s an Eisner Award winner! It’s the true story of Elliot Ness and his quest to catch America’s first serial killer. And it all happens in CLEAVELAND! (I don’t know why I got excited about that part. I guess cause that’s where Bendis is from.) Anyways, it’s a great crime comic and you should read it, bud. (Andrew)

MURDER FALCON #5 $3.99 (Image) – Magnum Khaos arrived on earth and promptly laid a firm ass-whooping on Jake and the rest of Brooticus! How did this happen?! Jake’s band was fully assembled and each one wielded their legendary instruments of rock against their foul foe only to taste the most bitter of defeat! What else can they do? Where can they turn? How can they possibly beat the seemingly unbeatable? By enlisting another metal wielding band of badasses, of course! But, by gum, only blackest of metal will do, goddammit! (Kris)

MISTER MIRACLE TP $24.99 (DC Comics) – I swear, this is the last time you’ll hear me talk about this book. I picked it as one of the best comics in both 2018 and 2017. It’s been on hundreds of critics “Best of” lists. It’s written by that Tom King guy that many people love. Now the whole story is available in one handy-dandy trade. Pick it up and read it…better yet, experience it. Then you might just understand what everyone is talking about. Enjoy. (Andrew)

DEAD MAN LOGAN #4 (OF 12) $3.99 (Marvel) – In my estimation, Dead Man Logan is the first time that Marvel has successfully capitalized on the potential of an Old Man Logan sequel set in the 616. Don’t get me wrong, there have been some good stories produced featuring the character up until this point. But nothing comes close to what they’ve accomplished in this series. As for the story up to this point, the villains played their hand a little too early and their plot to have Mysterio mind control Old Man Logan into murdering the heroes of the Marvel U has been thwarted. Unfortunately, Mysterio and Logan are both in the wind and the apocalypse may have only been postponed. Don’t you hate it when that happens? (Kris)

CRIMINAL #2 $3.99 (Image) – It’s one night. All you have to do is take your old boss, aging artist and professional prick Archie Lewis, to an event to receive a life-time achievement award. How hard can that be? Well, this IS a Criminal comic. If things were easy, they wouldn’t end up in this series, amirite? I think things are going to go badly rather quickly. Maybe you’ll kill the old man. Maybe the old man will kill you. There’s even a chance that the old man will get killed right in front of you and you will be framed for his murder. The possibilities are endless. Better just pick up the comic and see how you get out if this. Good luck. (Andrew)
