Hey not sure what to watch this week on the small screen? No worries #SetTheVCR is here to help you make some of those decisions easier. Each week Sammy Younan and I will give you our picks for each day of the coming week. Please note – enjoyment NOT guaranteed.
All times are Eastern Standard Time so please adjust for your time zone.
Aww man, all that discount Easter chocolate and not enough good tv. In the future, I would hope tv networks would do a better job of aligning those 2 factors. May the hopes we have for the future shine as bright as our TVs.

NBA Playoffs 2019 (
Game of Thrones (9pm / HBO) – Like I was going to choose anything else. Things are heating up in Winterfell. The season opened last week with getting all the pieces on the board in the right places for the rest of the season. Some of those were wallops to the characters, like Jon’s revelation and Jamie seeing Bran for the first time since season 1. This all, of course, is helping with the build-up to the Battle of Winterfell in episode 3. When the Army of the Dead finally engages with Jon’s army. This season is fire… even without the literal dragons. (Mr. Green)

Gentleman Jack (10pm / HBO) – NEW SHOW! Based on a true story – Anne Lister returns home to find her future companion has married and that she has coal under her family’s property. She begins to take over the family business collecting rent, mining coal etc. much to the chagrin of the local townsfolk, especially the men. Good to see Gemma Whelan (Yara of GoT) lands on her feet in a more modern setting as Anne’s sister. Hopefully, her story is less brutal than her last gig. (Mr. Green)

I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson (3am / Netflix) – Tim Robinson one of the who? faces on SNL has a sketch show on Netflix. Is this their first sketch show? I’ll be honest the trailer is sketchy but it’s also hard to make a trailer for a sketch show when the trailer is the length of some sketches. You’ll also recognize some faces and names in this. Not totally sold but I’ll give it an episode or two. (Sammy)
1969 (10pm / ABC) – NEW SHOW! 1969 takes a look back at the historic events of that year and how it shaped generations after it. The first episode looks at the moon landing. Includes interviews with people involved in the 1969 moon landing, including software engineer Margaret Hamilton, mathematicians Katherine Johnson and Christine Darden, astronauts Michael Collins, Charlie Duke and Gerry Griffin. History and space nerds rejoice! (Mr. Green)

Cobra Kai: Season 2 (Any
In Search of Monsters (9pm / Travel) – The ongoing mystery around one of America’s most well known legendary monsters the Jersey Devil. Cryptozoology is a fascinating pseudo-science that studies the unexplained instances that happen over the decades and centuries around the world. It is also fascinating for what makes people believe in these creatures. Much like Flat-Earthers, believers will sometimes use a lack of scientific proof as proof of their claims. Like I said fascinating. (Mr. Green)

The Orville (9pm / FOX) – FINALE! Looks like the events of last weeks decision by “Past-Kelly” will indeed have effects on the future. It will be interesting to see how this turns out for the crew of the Orville and if there are any truly lasting consequences to the series. This could be a really big step much like Star Trek: Discovery did last week and reset the show. If they actually make some permanent changes to the show they won’t be fully seen until next season. But man what a way to step out of Kaylon/Union war for a season finale. (Mr. Green)
Friday, April 26
Portals To Hell (10pm / Travel Channel) – I’ve so many questions as Jack Osbourne and investigator Katrina Weidman scope out purported “Portals to Hell.” Like if they discover a real portal to hell are they gonna close it? Or just leave a No Trespassing sign up? And how does a portal to hell operate is it fixed like a wormhole or does it oscillate… like a wormhole? And of course the biggest question… you can only know what’s in a cave if you go inside… how do you know if it’s a portal to hell unless you go in and come back out? (I guess the other bigger question is can one use the portal to hell to eliminate their enemies but let’s give science a chance to become established and we’ll go from there.)(Sammy)
Chambers (3am / Netflix) – Netflix drops another new series today. This one coming from Leah Rachel, stars Uma Thurman, Tony Goldwyn and Sivan Alyra Rose as Sasha. Sasha, a young heart attack survivor becomes consumed by the mystery surrounding the heart that saved her life. However, the closer she gets to uncovering the truth about her donor’s sudden death, the more she starts taking on the characteristics of the deceased — some of which are troublingly sinister. Going from the inspiring story of survival to possible occult is super intriguing. (Mr. Green)
Saturday, April 27
2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony (8pm / HBO) – Radiohead, Roxy Music, the Zombies and the Cure are some of the supa-dupa honorees which on the surface doesn’t seem all that rock n roll. S’alright… things evolve and here we are. “Kick out the jams! 1-2-3-4!!” (Sammy)
Nothing! – If you are desperate than see above for Sammy’s pick of The Hall of Fame induction. Some really cool bands are getting their due finally from the Hall. Otherwise, rest up as we start another week of GoT on Sunday night again and it’s going to an epic one. 2 down 4 to go! (Mr. Green)
Well, there you go plenty of options for the week ahead. Enjoy yourself and watch responsibly.
If you’re gonna geek out, GEEK HARD!
