Welcome friends to Back Issue Bloodbath, a comics-centric podcast presented by Geek Hard. Join hosts Andrew Young and Sammy Younan as they get down and dirty in the four-colour world of comic books, focusing on classic stories, new issues, comic creators and hot button topics.
It’s always a great feeling when they finally re-release a long out of print series in a new hardcover. It gives a whole new generation of readers the chance to discover a classic story. Such is the case with the recent release of Moonshadow: The Definitive Edition from Dark Horse Comics. Written by J.M. DeMatteis with artwork from Jon J. Muth, this 12 issue Sci-Fi Fantasy Epic has had quite the publication history.
Originally published by Epic in the mid to late 1980s, the series would be re-released almost a decade later through Vertigo Comics. A couple of years after that, a graphic novella called Farewell, Moonshadow was also printed under the Vertigo Imprint to wrap up the series. Now, over 20 years later, the entire series and novella have been collected by Dark Horse. That is a journey fitting for a story about one boy’s journey across the cosmos into manhood.
Take a listen to the latest Back Issue Bloodbath to hear Andrew and Sammy’s review of Moonshadow. Is this another fine piece of fantasy? The answer is waiting for you on an ALL NEW Bloodbath!
