We talk with director Karen Moore! She chats about her short film, Volcano, which will feature as part of the Short Cuts Programme at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Karen has been a longtime writer and producer for film and television but this short marks her directorial debut! Karen Moore is an award-winning Toronto-based film and television writer and producer. Her TV writing and producing credits include MARY KILLS PEOPLE (Hulu/Global), WORKIN’ MOMS (Netflix/CBC), ROOKIE BLUE (ABC/Global), and DETENTION ADVENTURE (CBC). Karen is the writer and co-producer of the award-winning comedy short film, MUST KILL KARL (Dir: Joe Kicak, Austin Film Festival ‘18). The film won Best Comedy at HollyShorts Film Festival (2018) and the Golden Sheaffor Best Comedy at the Yorkton Film Festival (2018). Karen wrote and co-produced the Bravo-funded short drama, YOUR PLACE OR MINE, and the award-winning short, FROZEN MARBLES. VOLCANO (TIFF ’19) is Karen’s directorial debut.

Our review of Ready or Not starring Samara Weaving, Adam Brody and Mark O’Brien. Grace couldn’t be happier after she marries the man of her dreams at his family’s luxurious estate. There’s just one catch — she must now hide from midnight until dawn while her new in-laws hunt her down with guns, crossbows and other weapons. As Grace desperately tries to survive the night, she soon finds a way to turn the tables on her not-so-lovable relatives.

We also talk with James Bade and Corrado Rizza of Unplugged Expo! Unplugged Expo is a fan convention taking place at the Japenese Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto on September 13th and 14th. This time around, they’ve partnered with Cosplay Matsuri to bring you an extravaganza of fun fan goodness. There will be cosplayers, vendors and special guests! Andrew and Mr. Green will also be there as guests of the event as well! James and Corrado will be telling you all about what you can expect at the show.
