Hey not sure what to watch this week on the small screen? No worries #SetTheVCR is here to help you make some of those decisions easier. Each week Sammy Younan and I will give you our picks for each day of the coming week. Please note – enjoyment NOT guaranteed.
All times are Eastern Standard Time so please adjust for your time zone.
So the streaming bomb known as Disney+ exploded last Tuesday and it was full of good (The Mandalorian, the selection), the bad (Simpson’s wrong aspect ratio, wonky search feature), and the ugly (servers couldn’t handle the millions of signups and demand for the first 24-72hrs). The dust seems to now be settling and we are moving into a steady-state for the service. Hopefully, they can fix the issues they have been encountering over those first few days. Now, this week’s picks!
And while we wait for the Disney+ dust to settle there are lots of good things happening on other channels: TV is everywhere!Sammy Younan

The Official Watchmen Podcast (Anytime
Hellboy (8pm / BBC America) – This is the classic 2004 version with Ron Perlman and directed by Guillermo Del Toro. Which was such a great fun ride of a movie and that it’s on tonight gives us an excuse to step away from regular TV and have some good ol’ monster bashing fun with the Right Hand of Doom. If you have never seen it here’s your chance to catch it and have a good night on the couch. (Mr. Green)
Tuesday, November 19
Iliza: Unveiled (
The Expanse (Anytime / Amazon Prime) – This is a perfect chance to start now to catch up before the 4th season drops in December. This series has a deep background of history on display that is being told across the episodes but that still doesn’t feel like it’s weighing you down as you watch. Although I will admit the first season is the slowest of the three available to get going. however, once you get going the momentum will keep you going to the end. “Beltalowdas remember the Cant!” (Mr. Green)
Wednesday, November 20
Mad About You (
The Toys That Made US (Anytime / Netflix) – Netflix snuck this in under the radar on the 15th. The previous seasons have been solid and informative about the toys many of us have grown up with. This season we get stories about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, My Little Pony and Professional Wrestling. Again a good mix of toys for kids of the ’80s and ’90s. I really would like to see this series expand out and start to cover some other topics that are from other countries, era’s and I would love some episodes about knockoff culture in toys. (Mr. Green)
Thursday, November 21
Coldplay: Everyday Life – Live in Jordan (
Supernatural (8pm / CW) – The boys are still doing what they do each week although they still think Chuck as taken off to another reality and left them alone. They have no clue how bad things are going to get for them before it’s over. Although Sam is been having dreams that might start to actually get him off his ass and talk to Dean, however, that wouldn’t be Supernatural now, would it? Nope. This show personifies the angsty drama that the CW has come to be known for. Still, the season has been the best it’s been in years. Glad to see them hitting their stride to go out on a high note. (Mr. Green)
Friday, November 22
Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings (
The Mandalorian (3am / Disney+) – Ok, this goes without saying. After last week’s first two episodes there is no way I’m not going to pick this show on Fridays. After the surprise revelation at the end of episode one and then the gloriously fun second episode I’m ALL IN on this show. The spaghetti-western / Lone Wolf and Cub vibe is great across those first two shows. We haven’t even gotten to Ming-Na Wen or Gina Carrano’s characters yet! It’s so tasty and delicious this alone has proven to worth the Disney+ subscription. (Mr. Green)
Saturday, November 23
Lil Rel Howery: Live in Crenshaw (
The Dragon Prince (Anytime / Netflix) – The third season dropped on Friday but of course with The Mandalorian out this moves to today’s pick. The first two seasons have been fun and the story has become more expansive as we go which is cool. Hopefully, enough people continue to watch the show so we can get more seasons as Netflix can get a little flaky about renewals after the third season. Plus with the war about to break out the odds, they wrap it up before the end of this season feel unlikely. Fingers-crossed. Still looks like we are going to get even more epic action with this season, can’t wait. (Mr. Green)
Sunday, November 24
The Simpsons (
Bob’s Burgers (9pm / FOX) – Keeping the FOX animation train going. Another Thanksgiving episode in the ever-growing mythos of the Bob Belcher need for the perfect Thanksgiving turkey. The episode from season 4 is one of my favourite episodes of the show. So I have high hopes for this one. Plus any time spent with the Belcher’s is always going to be a good time. (Mr. Green)
Well, there you go plenty of options for the week ahead. Enjoy yourself and watch responsibly.
If you’re gonna geek out, GEEK HARD!
