Welcome friends to Back Issue Bloodbath, a comics-centric podcast presented by Geek Hard. Join hosts Andrew Young and Petula Neale as they get down and dirty in the four-colour world of comic books, focusing on classic stories, new issues, comic creators and hot button topics.
Vertigo Comics produced a number of great series during its over 25 year run. It introduced the mainstream to a number of great creators who would go onto superstar success at DC Comics and beyond. One such title that rose to great heights was 100 Bullets! Written by Brian Azzarello with art by the amazing Eduardo Risso and dynamic covers by Dave Johnson, the series took a simple starting point and jumped off into diverse tales of crime, espionage and intrigue. This week, we take a look at the first five issues of the series. It was originally collected in a trade paperback under the name 100 Bullets: First Shot, Last Call.
The set up of the series introduced the reader to Agent Graves, a mysterious man who bestows a brief case holding a gun and 100 untraceable bullets to those who have been terminally wronged by someone. The brief case also contains information on the person who did them wrong. Whoever gets the case has the option to do nothing or to get revenge. The law will not hold them accountable for their actions.
This week, Andrew and Petula look back on the first two characters to get cases: former latina gangbanger Dizzy Cordova and a down-on-his luck bartender. How did they handle their opportunity at revenge? Join us as we talk about these specific stories and the 100 Bullets series in general. It’s all happening on an ALL NEW, ALL DIFFERENT episode of Back Issue Bloodbath! Enjoy.
