We talk with comic creator, author, journalist and filmmaker David F. Walker. David is a prolific comic writer with credits at Marvel, DC, and other major comic companies! He’ll be on to talk about his Image Comics series Bitter Root and more! David F. Walker is an award-winning comic book writer, filmmaker, journalist, and educator. Walker is best known for his work in comics, including Shaft: A Complicated Man (Dynamite Entertainment), and its sequel, Shaft: Imitation of Life. His work for Marvel Comics includes Luke Cage, Occupy Avengers, Power Man and Iron Fist, Nighthawk, Fury, and Deadpool. He’s written for DC Comics (Cyborg, Naomi), Boom! (Planet of the Apes), and IDW (The Army of Dr. Moreau). He is the creator of the prose YA series The Adventures of Darius Logan, and author of the novel Shaft’s Revenge, the first new novel starring the iconic black detective in more than forty years.

We also talk with actor Steven McCarthy. Steven is one of the hosts for the 2021 CAFTCAD Awards, recognizing excellence in costume design and production for the film and television industry. The CAFTCAD Awards will be presented digitally on Saturday, May 1st, at 8PM Eastern on Youtube and Facebook. Steven McCarthy is an award-winning actor, director, and musician. He’s played leading roles for such directors as Guillermo del Toro, Ken Finkelman, and Kate Melville starring alongside such performers as Adrien Brody, Jeff Daniels, Samantha Bee and Tatiana Maslany. His recent acting credits include series regular roles in The Expanse (Amazon), Barkskins (NatGeo) and Chapelwaite (Epix). McCarthy is also the lead singer and manager of the ten-piece epic funk band The ElastoCitizens. Motel Pictures’ We Forgot to Break Up, co-written by and starring McCarthy, also premiered at TIFF and SxSW before going on to win Best Canadian Short Film at the Whistler Film Festival.
